What is QiGong?

The practice of Qigong (chee gong) is quickly gaining more attention in the western world due to its tremendous health and emotional benefits.

In this video, Nancy talks about some of the main elements and the amazing benefits of QiGong as part of a healing practice.

Qi refers to life force energy and Gong means to work or cultivate. QiGong works with your body’s energy to help you heal yourself, and you can heal others too!

Since literally everything is energy, that means you are an energy being. Every cell in your body is a form of energy. Your thoughts are also a form of energy. Sickness, whether it manifests physically, mentally, or emotionally, is also a form of energy.

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, but it can be transformed. In fact, energy is constantly in the process of transforming.

The only question with your body’s energy is whether it is transforming for better or for worse. Simply put, QiGong healing is accomplished by manipulating and transforming the energy that is the root cause of sickness. Qigong practice can help you transform your body’s energy for the better and even undo the “worse”.

Simple and easy to learn, this is a wonderful tool to complement any healing modality.

Anyone can learn to practice QiGong, regardless of age or ability.

Nancy demonstrates an energy healing technique you can try at home:

As an energy being, your body was designed to have its energy always flowing smoothly and in perfect balance.

The energy flows through the many energy channels or meridians in the body. (Acupuncture is based on the exact same principle, but acupuncture requires the use of needles by a skilled professional.)

You can think of your body’s energy system like water flowing in a river. When the water is flowing smoothly in the river, everything is fine, everything is in balance. When something happens causing a blockage in the river, that’s when problems start.

Upstream the water overflows the river’s banks and there is flooding, while downstream the river dries up and there is drought.

Remove the blockage, and everything returns to its natural balance.

More specifically, disease or dis-ease is caused by energy blockages in the body. Usually, this means too much or too little energy in one place. Either way, your energy is out of balance, creating an energy blockage. Energy blockages are caused by many things but most commonly by toxins, nutrition, wrong medication, emotions or stress. Energy blockages cause your body’s natural healing system to break down and malfunction.

There is no such thing as “good” energy or “bad” energy. Energy is energy. Problems result only because there is too much or too little energy in one place.

Remove the blockage or blockages and restore energy balance and the disease, sickness, or other problem goes away — not just the symptoms, but the root cause of the problem is removed. That is part of what is so beautiful and powerful about QiGong, it gets at the root cause of the problem, not just the symptoms.

Developing a QiGong practice can help you remove the energy blockages in your body, restore your natural balance, and keep your energy flowing smoothly, enabling you to live the healthiest, happiest, most productive and rewarding life possible.

Enjoy the beautiful abundance and gifts of a QiGong practice.

Simple and easy to learn, this is a wonderful tool to complement any healing modality. Anyone can learn to do QiGong.

The Four Elements of QiGong

QiGong uses the breath, visualization, gentle movements, and sound to heal and restore balance to your body, mind, and spirit.

The Breath

The breath is a gift that comes with life and is the most powerful tool for healing and the most important element of QiGong practice. Slow, deep, sustained breathing helps you to center, to connect, to slow down and to be fully present. It lowers blood pressure, calms the nervous system, and much more.

The breath impacts your nervous system and longer breaths have been found to lead to living a longer and happier life.

Visualization uses the power of the brain by directing the mind positively. Visualization is used in guided meditations. Using visualization you can open up the energy channels in your body. Using messages like “My pain is gone, I feel wonderful, I am healed”, have a powerful effect on the energetic channels in the body. Focussing your mind on negative thoughts and images create more illness, imbalance, and unhappiness, keeping you blocked and unable to access the healing power that lies within you. Changing to positive thoughts such as “I love my life, I feel wonderful, I am happy and grateful”, will allow you to transform your energy for the best and allow healing and happiness to occur.

Gentle QiGong Movements

Gentle QiGong Movements, or as I like to refer to them, moving meditations, are very effective in removing energetic blockages and restoring a healthy energy flow. The various postures and movements in QiGong serve to restore harmony and health as energy flows freely through your system like a river in the spring. This healthy energy restores health and harmony. There are is a series of movements in QiGong; I share the Spring Forest QiGong movements in my private mentorship practice and group sessions. Each movement targets a specific system or organ.

Nancy Crites plays a Tibetan Singing Bowl during one of her QiGong classesSound is vibrational healing. Different sounds vibrate at different frequencies, which open the channels, allowing balance and self-healing. Chanting is an ancient healing technique I use in my classes and personalized sessions that opens your heart and heals the body. I also use a variety of Tibetan Singing Bowls to strengthen and enhance the vibration and healing. The vibrations from Tibetan bowls addresses disease, or dis-ease, chronic pain, inflammation — whatever needs balancing and healing. The sound vibration also builds immunity and sets a mood of happiness and joy.

Medical QiGong

Medical QiGong is emerging as one of the hidden jewels of longevity, healthy immunity, increased energy levels, a positive sense of well-being, and even joy! Spring Forest QiGong is an effective, beautiful and simple form of QiGong which I use in my personalized healing sessions.

QiGong is extremely effective at reducing and eliminating chronic pain, inflammation, and disease states.

QiGong is a self-healing technique. QiGong works with your body’s energy to harness and regulate your body’s innate healing abilities.

Imagine leading a dynamic, healthy, vibrant life well into your golden years without pain or discomfort or relying on medication. It’s as simple as fifteen minutes a day of QiGong practice. QiGong has been valued and renowned in China for thousands of years for its ability to create and maintain balance inside and out, allowing you to live a long and healthy life.

The most powerful tool for healing lies within you. Your body instinctively knows what it needs to repair and heal itself from all kinds of illnesses and injuries — from the common cold to abrasions. You can enhance this natural process and consciously heal more serious illnesses and chronic conditions.

QiGong is an effective preventative measure. As your body achieves balance, your entire body, mind and spiritual system are strengthened, helping you remain healthy — and happy too!

Medical QiGong has been designed to harmonize your body, mind, and spirit and to assist you with your health and well-being. The healing aspect of QiGong is comprised of 4 components: visualization, breathing, postures/movements, and sound.

Tibetan bowl healing is a perfect complement to QiGong practice. It enhances all of the benefits of QiGong. There are many benefits of Tibetan Singing Bowls. The vibrational healing balances:

  • stress
  • anxiety
  • blood pressure
  • anger
  • fear
  • chakras
  • circulation
  • mental and emotional concerns
  • Stillness

And it creates a sense of peace, joy and calm.
